What to make with it

Recipes

What people actually do with the two fruits: juice, juice with milk, and ají. Nothing here needs more than a blender.

Three lulos stacked in a pyramid on a sunlit wall

Juice

Lulo juice

The one nearly every box goes to. Lulo is too tart to eat out of hand and exactly right once it is juice.

  • About 4 glasses
  • 5 minutes

You need

  • 4 lulos
  • 4 glasses of water or milk
  • Sugar, to taste

Steps

  1. Take 4 lulos.
  2. Put the four lulos in whole into the blender.
  3. Add 4 glasses of water or milk, or use half water and half milk. Milk tastes better.
  4. Add sugar to taste.
  5. Blend until smooth.
  6. Strain the juice before serving.
  7. Serve cold.

Tip Tastes better with milk.

Hot sauce

Ají de tomate de árbol

The table sauce that goes on everything. It is worth making the day before — it gets better sitting in the fridge.

  • A bowl
  • 15 minutes

You need

  • 2 tomates de árbol
  • 1 red or yellow chili
  • Garlic, salt and pepper
  • Onion, tomato, cilantro, lemon

Steps

  1. Peel 2 tomates de árbol and take 1 red or yellow chili.
  2. Add the tomate de árbol, chili, a little water, garlic, salt and pepper to a blender.
  3. Blend until smooth, then strain the mixture.
  4. Pour into a bowl.
  5. Add sliced onion, regular cubed tomatoes, chopped cilantro and lemon juice.
  6. Mix well.

Tip Refrigerate in an airtight container. It gets better after a few hours.
